What/Who inspires you to be healthy?
I hope this doesn’t come off as self-centered, but I inspire myself to be healthy. 2 years ago, as a sophomore, I weighed 135lbs and I was a size 5/6 jeans. Now, as a senior, I weigh about 117lbs and I recently bought a pair of size 1/2 jeans from Rue 21 and they fit perfectly. I inspire myself through the compliments that people give me that I have lost weight and I look better, not that I ever looked bad before. I was okay, but now I’m more fit and healthy and I can do more with my body and my life. I also have a higher self esteem and I’m no longer afraid to go to the beach in a bikini or anything like that.
What do you currently do to stay active/healthy?
Besides the usual walking to class and up/down stairs, every day after school I run for about 20 minutes on the treadmill (5 mins jog, 10 mins run, 5 mins jog). Then I stretch and do a set of arms/butt/core (see attachment). I eat at or under 1300 calories. I try to eat a lot of fruits and less carbs. I avoid fast food as much as possible. I carry a water bottle all the time and try to drink at least 2 18.5oz bottle-fulls.
What excites you most about this opportunity to be a PromFit ambassador (other than the free workout of course)?
It would be cool to help other girls do what I’ve done. I’m proud of myself for getting this far, and I’d like to share that pride with other girls like me. It takes a lot to get up and DO something about the way you feel and the way you look. Sometimes people just need that little push in the right direction. A Fitness Ambassador could be that push.
How will you inspire others and help us spread the word to be fit and healthy as a PromFit Ambassador?
I’m pretty social, so I think just talking to people about it would be a good way to get them excited for the PromFit program. I have already convinced my friend to join me on this program.
